BMA’s Features page showcases our recent leading-edge projects, which use prescriptive analytics and a truly whole systems approach.
The BMA Bioresources Production Planning Platform is driving breakthrough performance in bioresources management, by applying system thinking and prescriptive analytics. Seven out of the ten major wastewater utilities in the UK have already benefitted from using this technology. Discover more in the video below.
Redefining Failure is the latest project case study being showcased from our Energy Systems and Sustainability Solution Suite.
Working collaboratively with Northern Gas Networks (NGN), BMA developed a data-driven, innovative systems planning approach to the failure assessment of maintainable assets. Significant Capital cost efficiencies were revealed through the adoption of a systems approach. This project has cross-sector applicability and has already been applied to disinfection system failure within the water industry.
Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans require wastewater companies to take a holistic approach in the development of investment plans to maintain and improve their services. The Decision Support Tool provided by BMA allows clients to integrate risk assessments, options appraisal and programme development into a single platform. By combining a mathematical optimisation engine with cloud based storage and visualisation tools, BMA is uniquely capable to support wastewater utilities in the realisation of a truly systemic DWMP.
National Grid Gas Transmission Network Strategy Solution, NetStrat, is the latest project case study being showcased from our Energy Systems and Sustainability Solution Suite.
Working collaboratively with National Grid Gas Transmission (NGGT), BMA developed an advanced systems model of the high-pressure gas national transmission system (NTS). An innovative combination of optimisation and hydraulic modelling approaches are providing a step change in Network Strategy capability at NGGT, which is critical to ensuring the gas transmission network remains relevant. The advanced systems model is enabling NGGT to develop a robust 25-year network strategy, which is resilient in the face of future uncertainty.
“I have found BMA to be an excellent business partner, they have listened to our needs, understood the data that is available and tailored their approach to deliver outstanding results.”

“We engaged the support of Business Modelling Associates to develop the understanding of our end to end sludge management costs and opportunities. The model is now at the heart of how we manage our renewable energy and recycling operations in Yorkshire.”
Head of Energy and Recycling at Yorkshire Water
“NGN worked collaboratively with BMA to model a number of supply and demand based Hydrogen gas futures…Key to the success of this project was BMA’s collaborative and engaging approach that balanced the technical expertise of NGN with the modelling rigour and practical approach of BMA to deliver a holistic and mutually beneficial outcome.”
Head of Asset Strategy, Northern Gas Networks
“The model has given South West Water evidence based insight. It is informing real strategic options that the business can take to improve efficiencies; whilst also tactically preparing for market development. The model is enabling effective decisions to be taken with confidence.”
Head of Wholesale Strategic Performance and Development, South West Water
“BMA are currently working with us on the development of our 25-year bio resource investment strategy. I have been impressed with their domain expertise and their collaborative, sometimes challenging, but always engaging approach. A key success factor was an initial data and process review which BMA led in very structured way.”
