Business Modelling Associates (BMA) will be presenting a paper on Gas 2 The Future: Modelling future gas scenarios with advanced prescriptive analytics at the Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers (IGEM) event in Edinburgh on Thursday 29 June 2017.
The event will be presented by Dr Craig Mauelshagen, Head of Research: Risk Analytics at Business Modelling Associates, one of the UK’s leading business analytics and solutions development firms. Dr Mauelshagen has worked on the areas of risk analytics, governance and culture within a range of organisations and sectors. These include central and local Government, Energy (Electricity and Gas) and Water utilities. Projects ranged from developing a risk appetite process to building end-to-end risk based investment optimisation solutions. Dr Mauelshagen has a PhD on risk governance from Cranfield University.
The Northern Gas Networks project, Gas 2 The Future, is an ambitious project to explore alternative gas futures through quantitative scenario analysis using BMA’s leading edge prescriptive analytics solutions. The core project objective is to facilitate the evolution of an advanced modelling system that will enable the UK gas sector to develop forward-looking strategies and investment plans. The modelling technology brings together gas network, asset, process and financial modelling capabilities to create a holistic view of future gas scenarios. This project focused on a Hydrogen and Shale gas futures but could be applied to other energy sectors and technologies. A key project outcome is a user-friendly web app that allows non-technical experts to explore the gas futures scenario results produced by the core model. In his presentation, Craig will share the progress made on the model and web app to date and the interim results.
