Listen to BMA discussing the TORCH project on Planet Possible Podcast
BMA is the lead technology partner on the collaborative TORCH project. Listen to the Planet Possible podcast about how heat from wastewater can be a source of renewable energy.
Our collaborative winning project (TORCH) focuses on solving heat demand and affordability challenges facing the UK today. Using BMA's leading technology, and partnering with expertise from across sectors, will unlock the potential for using wastewater as a renewable heat energy source.
We are excited to announce that BMA has been selected as one of the winners of Ofwat's fifth Water Breakthrough Challenge by the Ofwat Innovation Fund! Together with Anglian Water Services, Severn Trent, Thames Water, and others, this achievement marks a significant milestone in BMA's commitment to driving innovation in the UK's water sector.

By developing new capabilities as part of BMA's C4ET (Cloud for Energy Transition) solution, we'll identify and prioritise wastewater heat recovery opportunities that integrate advanced technologies, scientific learning, operator knowledge, and leading AI capabilities.
Through this collaborative initiative, we aim to create a practical, user-friendly tool that transforms how the sector identifies and evaluates wastewater heat recovery opportunities.
In the coming months, we'll be sharing more details about this groundbreaking project as we begin implementation.
We're excited to embark on this journey with our partners and look forward to enabling cross-sector collaboration across Water, Energy, and beyond.
