Value Delivery Consultant

Overview

  • As a Value Delivery Consultant at BMA, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our Decisio™ platform.
  • Your primary focus will be on leveraging your expertise in planning and data science skills, to optimise the performance, resilience, and sustainability of water or energy systems for our clients. 
  • You will be part of a larger team that provides analytics services to a wide range of customers in numerous different industry verticals.

Responsibilities

  • The role will require you to be part of a growing company that has a wide-ranging customer base spread across numerous industry verticals in the water & energy utility sectors, amongst others. 
  • You will be responsible for the continued improvement and development of the proprietary inhouse platform that is currently deployed to numerous customers.
  • You will be expected to work in a manner that supports staged deployment of enhanced applications and solutions for existing and new customers, ensuring that solutions are deployed without adverse effects on existing customer solutions.
  • You will work with the larger consulting team and take feedback from customers as well as the team to inform the development road map of the platform.
  • You will be measured based upon delivery of agreed project milestones.
  • You will be expected to learn the core technologies used by BMA and become familiar with the BMA proprietary solution delivery platform, Decisio™, to create detailed digital representations of clients' connected systems of assets in the water, wastewater, or energy sectors. 

  • You will conduct comprehensive scenario analysis and network design optimisation to enhance system performance, efficiency, and resilience, considering various operational constraints, environmental factors, and the strategic ambitions of the client. 

  • You will inform clients' strategic Resource Management Plans and Long-Term Delivery Strategies, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, using the Decisio platform. 

  • You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support operational systems planning, offering guidance on efficiency optimisation, energy production enhancement, and resilience planning during critical asset unavailability. 

  • You will have an understanding of existing mathematical models and develop additional logic to meet internal and clients’ requirements. 

  • You will be involved in all aspects of system development, testing, deployment, and feedback with the overarching objective to further enhance and develop the Company's system for the benefit of the Company and its customers (this could require interaction with other company employees geographically situated around the world). 

Place of work 

  • The role is a permanent full-time contract, and your normal working week will be Monday to Friday, working 40 hours per week. 
  • Your contract will commence on the agreed-upon date by both parties. 
  • This position is hybrid, with a base at BMA’s offices in Leeds or London, UK. 
  • The company offers holiday entitlement in addition to the UK bank holidays. 

 

Characteristics

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Production Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Statistical and Decision Sciences, or a related field.  
  • 3 or more years of working experience will be ideally sought for the role. 
  • Experience in the water, wastewater, or energy sectors will be an advantage but not essential. 
  • Proficiency in utilising advanced analytics and data science techniques for decision-making purposes, including but not limited to statistical analysis, predictive modelling, and optimisation algorithms. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel is essential, and basic knowledge of other tools and techniques such as MS SQL Server, Python, R, Microsoft Power BI, linear programming, and other optimisation techniques and technologies will be a further advantage. 
  • Familiarity with system modelling software and digital twin technologies. A proven track record of applying these tools to real-world scenarios will be a distinct advantage. 
  • A demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive scenario analysis, optimisation modelling, and investment planning, with a keen understanding of the interplay between technical, economic, and environmental factors will be a distinct advantage. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams. 
  • Pragmatic and goal-oriented, as well as self-motivating and self-learning. 
  • A proven track record of driving innovation, delivering results, and adapting to dynamic and fast-paced environments. 
  • Ability to attend and lead workshop sessions with business stakeholders from time to time to determine business requirements for end-use cases to be deployed using the technology components described above.
